Sila: A Celebration of Collaboration and Inclusivity at ARCH:ID 2024
Tangerang, Indonesia — “Sila” was an installation featured at Alun-alun 1 during ARCH:ID 2024, held at ICE BSD City, Tangerang, from February 22-25, 2024. Created through a thoughtful collaboration between PT Conwood Indonesia and the Bandung-based architectural firm LABO, Sila embodied the event’s theme, “Placemaking: Tolerance.” This concept aimed to transform temporary spaces into meaningful environments filled with cultural and social value. The installation, celebrated for its innovative design and profound philosophy, won the Best Booth Award – Best Placemaking Design, becoming a highlight of the exhibition.
The design of Sila was inspired by Indonesia’s rich traditions of social gathering and inclusivity, creating a space where people could connect and interact. Its open and inviting structure represented harmony and tolerance, resonating with the visitors and aligning perfectly with the exhibition’s theme. The name itself, Sila, carries philosophical significance, reflecting shared values of togetherness that are central to Indonesian culture. Through this vision, LABO elevated the installation to represent not just a physical space but also a cultural statement.
Conwood’s role in the project was integral, with its innovative materials ensuring the installation was not only visually captivating but also durable and practical. The partnership showcased how Conwood’s expertise and LABO’s design ingenuity could bring visionary ideas to life, merging high-quality materials with the architectural concepts. The installation stood as a testament to the power of collaboration and the potential of sustainable, adaptable materials in modern architecture.
After the exhibition, Sila was relocated to Pos.Co Bandung, extending its story beyond ARCH:ID 2024. This move reflects the commitment to creating designs that are not only temporary showpieces but also lasting contributions to community spaces. Sila continues to inspire as a symbol of inclusivity, innovation, and the enduring impact of thoughtful design.
