With modern landscaping that includes lush greenery, walking trails, and educational spaces, the park promotes environmental awareness and sustainability. The iconic Infinity Link Bridge connects its northern and southern parts, symbolizing the harmony between urban life and the natural world. The park’s innovative design has garnered significant recognition, including prestigious awards that affirm its role as a model for future urban green spaces.
Challenges in Creating a Green Space
Creating Tebet Eco Park posed several challenges, particularly in constructing a bridge that aligned with the park’s eco-friendly vision while accommodating high foot traffic. The initial idea to use real wood was met with concerns about durability in Jakarta’s humid climate and the environmental impact of sourcing large quantities of wood. These challenges led the design team to seek innovative alternatives.
Materials Behind the Award-Winning Design
Tebet Eco Park’s success as an award-winning space is rooted in both its visionary design and the innovative materials used. For the Infinity Link Bridge, traditional wood was initially considered but set aside due to maintenance and environmental concerns. Instead, a more resilient, eco-friendly material was chosen, offering the look of wood with enhanced durability to withstand Jakarta’s humid climate.
This choice allowed the park to embody its eco-friendly vision without compromising on strength or aesthetic appeal. The use of this material contributed to the park’s recognition with honors such as the President’s Design Award Singapore 2023 for “Design of the Year, celebrating its blend of beauty and sustainability.
